NOTES - McMurray and Bass Pro Shops / Tracker Boats Team

Indianapolis History: Sunday will mark McMurray’s eighth Sprint Cup Series start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In seven prior events McMurray has an average starting and finishing position of 16th. His best finish at the famed 2.5-mile oval came in 2003, his first visit to the track, when he finished third after starting 22nd. He has finished in all races participated in and has finished on the lead lap in six of the seven events.

Chicago Review: McMurray and the No.1 McDonald’s Team could not help but try to find a way to shine as they returned to Chicagoland Speedway and the backyard of primary sponsor McDonald’s for the Lifelock.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. McMurray and the No.1 McDonald’s Team didn’t disappoint as they promptly went out and posted the fastest lap in the qualifying session, giving McDonald’s their second Coors Light Pole Award of the season. McMurray and team would not disappoint in the Saturday night race either, as the team went on to lead 72 laps, and post a fifth-place finish.

Making an Appearance: Visit the Team Chevy Stage located inside the track between turns one and two next to the IMS Museum where McMurray will be participating in two Question and Answer sessions this race weekend. The first appearance will be Friday, July 23 from 11:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. during Chevy Day at the Brickyard. The second appearance will be the morning of the Brickyard 400 from 9:45 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

In the Points: After finishing fifth at Chicagoland Speedway, the No. 1 team gained one position in the NSCS points standings moving up one spot to18th and now sits 181 points from 12th- the cutoff for the Chase.

[b]Bass Pro Shops Returns: [b] After two weeks away from the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the No. 1 team Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats returns as the primary sponsor of the McMurray driven Chevrolet. This will be the 14th event of the 2010 season that the black and orange colors of Bass Pro Shops will be showcased on the No. 1 car.

    CHASSIS INFO

No. 1 Bass Pro Shops / Tracker Boats Chevrolet (NSCS): Chassis #905. McMurray will pilot chassis #905 for the fourth time this weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The chassis was last used in the Coke 600 at Charlotte where McMurray finished second. While running at Dover, where McMurray ran in the top-10 for over half the event, mechanical issues forced a 32nd-place finish. This chassis was also used in March at Atlanta finishing 29th after an on-track incident while running in the top-five.

I have to work this Sunday so I will have to miss the race, although this race does tend to be one of the most boring of the season.

ok so I had a dream last night that was leading on the final lap and JPM was right behind him. They were showing Chip on TV and he was pumping his fists because he was going to get a 1-2 finish in the Brickyard... then in turn 4 JPM wrecked because "the Brickyard owed him one." Basically it was a mashup of Gateway (Carl and Brad- minus the tap in turn 1) and JPM's always reckless driving style. (oh, and in my dream JPM did get the pole as well, so I hope that is all of the dream that actually comes to fruition.

Well that is an odd dream, but personally I hope a little more than that comes true. Personally, I hope is leading Montoya (or anybody, really) off 4 on the final lap, but doesn't get wrecked.

I was up from 4am til 1am so I was running on very very low energy. I don't normally remember dreams but my last thought before basically passing out from exhaustion was that I wanted to wake up in time for qualifying (which I didn't- unless you count watching the last 5 cars qualify as waking up in time). So my last thought being about nascar probably triggered this dream. And yeah, I didn't think of wanting the part of leading the final lap in my dream coming true- that would be nice.

Yeah, I know what that's like... when I went to the race at Michigan back in June, I was up at 3am and didn't get to sleep until after midnight. Staying awake that long can sometimes cause some weird dreams after finally succumbing to the exhaustion.
