NOTES - Jamie McMurray. and No. 1 McDonald’s Team
Chicagoland History: Sunday will mark Jamie McMurray’s eighth Sprint Cup Series start at Chicagoland Speedway. McMurray’s career best came in 2003 under the ownership of Chip Ganassi and Felix Sabates at his first visit to the track where he started eighth and finished 10th. He has zero DNF’s at the 1.5-mile oval track.
Daytona Recap: Jamie McMurray and the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats team returned to Daytona International Speedway as the reigning Daytona 500 Champions. Expectations are high when your driver has won two of the last three NSCS Superspeedway events, with the non-winning race resulting in a second-place finish at this year’s first Talladega event. Because of this, the No. 1 team had high hopes heading back to Daytona. Rain cancelled qualifying setting the field by points. McMurray would start in the 17th position. After running as high as third, McMurray would get caught up in the first major wreck of the 400-mile race on lap 116 forcing the No. 1 team to the garage. Proving to be too much to fix, the team would have to settle for a 39th-place finish.
McDonald’s Appearance: On Thursday, July 8, Jamie McMurray, 2010 Daytona 500 Champion and driver of the No.1 McDonald’s® Chevrolet, will greet fans, pose for photographs and sign autographs at the Spring Road McDonald’s location in Oak Brook. McMurray’s appearance will begin at 3 p.m on Thursday, July 8, ending at 5 p.m. at the McDonald’s located at 1120 West 22nd Street in Oak Brook, Illinois. During this time, his race car will also be on display at the same location. The No. 1 McDonald’s® Chevrolet will also be on display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, July 9 at the McDonald’s located at 600 N. Clark in Chicago, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 10 at the McDonald’s located at 778 South Weber Road in Romeoville. Twitter followers of McDonald’s can interact with McMurray during a “Tweet Chat” with @McDonalds from the appearance on Thursday, July 8, between the hours of 4:30-5 p.m. CT.
McDonald’s Did You Know? The original McDonald’s was founded by the McDonald’s brothers, Dick and Mac, in 1940. It wasn’t until April of 1955 that the first franchised McDonald’s opened in Des Plaines, Illinois. The Hamburger University later opened in 1961 in nearby Elk Grove Village, Illinois. McDonald’s headquarters are currently located in Oak Brook, Illinois.
Visit the Local McDonald’s: While attending the race weekend at Chicagoland Speedway stop at one of the two local McDonald’s to curve your breakfast, lunch or dinner tastes. The two locations are within five miles of the speedway and can be found at 508 East Cass Streeat, Joliet, IL 60432 and 1515 West Jefferson Street, Joliet, IL 60435.
Stop at the Local Bass Pro Shops: Bass Pro Shops is located just 25 miles north of the Chicagoland Speedway. Stop in for all your racetrack and summer camping needs. The store can be found at 709 Janes Ave., Bolingbrook, IL 60440.
CHASSIS INFO
No. 1 McDonald’s Chevrolet (NSCS): Chassis #1006. Crew Chief Kevin “Bono” Manion has elected to bring chassis #1006 this weekend to Chicagoland, the same chassis that captured the pole and finished second at the Darlington Raceway in May.

NATIONWIDE:
Jamie McMurray - No. 88 Suave Men Chevrolet
“I’m happy to be back with the 88 team this weekend at Chicagoland with a great sponsor like Suave Men. I know the whole JRM organization is riding high after Dale’s win in the 3 car last week. Everyone was excited for that victory – myself included. I’m thinking we can carry a lot of that positive momentum to Chicago this week. Chicago isn’t a track I’ve had a lot of success at, but it’s a fun place to drive.
“My goal is to go out there and win races for these guys. Plus, we’ve got some added motivation with Suave Men putting up the head-to-head challenge too. We’re going to be taking on the 7 team in a competition which factors in our practice speeds, qualifying efforts and race results throughout the weekend. The winning team is going to have a donation made to The Dale Jr. Foundation courtesy of Suave Men. So it’s all for a great cause.”
SUAVE MEN HEAD-TO-HEAD CHALLENGE – This weekend marks the culmination of Suave Men’s Head-to-Head challenge, a challenge pitting the No. 88 team against the No. 7 team at Chicagoland Speedway. Dale Earnhardt Jr. issued the challenge to his teams, and will factor in average practice speeds, qualifying, pit-stop times and race results. The team with the best times will have a substantial donation made on its behalf to The Dale Jr. Foundation. It’s also the second of two races featuring Suave Men as the primary sponsor of the No. 88 Chevrolet.
SEVENTH FOR McMURRAY – McMurray will drive the seventh of nine scheduled races in the No. 88 Suave Men Chevrolet for JRM this weekend. He amassed three top-five and four top-10 finishes in his previous six starts (Texas, Talladega, Richmond, Darlington, Dover and Charlotte) for the team. McMurray’s average finish in those races is 6.7.
McMURRAY AT CHICAGOLAND - In six starts at the 1.5-mile track, McMurray scored one top-10 finish and has led five laps. His best finish of ninth came in 2003 driving for James Finch.
WINDY CITY STATS – The No. 88 Suave Men team, led by crew chief Tony Eury, Sr., hold three starts at Chicago. The team’s best finish was a third-place showing in 2008. They’ve led four laps at the facility and earned an average finish of 11.7.
TEAM POINTS POSITION – The No. 88 Suave Men team remains ninth in the 2010 owner points after Daytona.
